Welcome and thank you for visiting our web site.  For over 20 years DMI has assisted organizations engaged in philanthropy in Florida and the Caribbean.  We are proud to have served over 200 clients over the years.  To view the scope of clients go to the Clients page.

Our website provides you with information on fund raising, management and training services as well as Free Tips and other free how-to information. The most visited page is Job Opportunities which is provided at no charge to organizations that request we post their openings.

Our main office is in Central Florida with Associates in Florida offices in Cocoa Beach, Daytona Beach and Jupiter.  Other Associates are located in Atlanta, Boston and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Donovan Management specializes in major gift fund raising.  We research major gift prospects for clients to better prepare their organizations for major, capital and endowment campaigns.  Secondly, we assess the client’s readiness to conduct a major gift campaign and lay out the plan.  Since 2002 we have researched and profiled over 1,000,000 potential donors through our ezScreen research service. Today we can provide clients with customized Advanced Prospect Research Services that go further in-depth for those top prospects needed to floor the campaign.

The third step in our major gift service is training of volunteers. Our book:  “Take The Fear Out of Asking for Major Gifts” is used by thousands of nonprofits in their fund raising campaigns. The revised and updated edition will be released in early 2008. 

We train volunteers and staff on how to ask for major gifts based on the principles in this publication. This training is done not only for our own clients but for clients of other consulting firms around the country who believe in the importance of properly preparing volunteers on how to solicit major gifts. 

As consultants and career professionals, we have planned and guided numerous volunteer driven major gift campaigns in the past twenty years resulting in over a billion dollars. 

In addition, we solve fundamental organizational challenges by conducing assessments, fund raising feasibility studies and conducting board retreats.  As consultants we provide three basic functions that clients cannot perform themselves.

  • Independent and objective assessment, study and analysis of an organization’s status.
  • Outside influence for making organizational change.
  • Outside motivation of staff and board to exceed their goals.  

Donovan Management employs a five step process in carrying out these functions:

  • Identification of key organizational issues.
  • Defining the problem facing the organization.
  • Devising strategies and solutions to solve the problem.
  • Recommending a comprehensive plan of action.
  • Implementing the plan of action by augmenting and mentoring of existing client staff with DMI Consultants throughout the engagement period.

We’re a small firm that contracts with less than a dozen clients each year. We keep our overhead down by using contract consultants that are the best in their field –prospect research, communication, major/capital campaign management, strategic planning and leadership development.  Clients benefit from our flexibility, highly personalized service, as well as constant and easy access to the firm’s principal and associates in-person, by telephone or online.
